Principal Software Engineer
BAE Systems is looking for well-qualified professionals to join our team for an exciting opportunity to support the readiness and sustainment of the USAF ICBM program. This contract augments organic resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and ICBM Demonstration / Validation (Dem/Val) Integrated Applications Programs.
This Minuteman III (MM III) Sustainment team member will serve as the sole subject matter expert on system design and development of commercial database/software tool integration, and application maintenance. The selected applicant will seek to deliver world-class capabilities for our government customer and their associated contractors, which will help drive productivity and innovation. They will be the primary interface between the MM III Sustainment team and the local Information Systems functional office ensuring seamless integration of products into broader systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and demonstrated success in the development of JIRA database applications. Duties and responsibilities will include:
Planning, design, development, modification and maintenance of various IT applications.
Work closely with internal and external organizations to support various customer user requirements
Business process analysis and system requirements development
Implement approved system security policies to include the configuration of user access and permission across a variety of software platforms
Support application event root cause analysis and correlation with event characterization and escalation, working with vendors as needed for resolution
Provides technical assistance, training, and application documentation for users
Perform other duties as assigned
This position reports to the Standardization, Support and Inspection Program Manager and is located at or near Hill AFB, Utah.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Minimum of 8 years of experience (6 years with MS) in research, design, development, and/or modification of enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.
Preferred Skills and Education
Highly preferred skills and experience:
Experience in the design and development of software using Java, C , or C#
Experience in maintaining standards compliance
Working knowledge of documenting software functionality
Familiarity with JIRA/Confluence/BitBucket/SharePoint
Familiarity with evaluating and identifying new technologies for implementation
Familiarity with Oracle
Familiarity with COTS installation and configuration
Possess strong oral & written communications skills
Preferred skills and experience:
Experience in API programming and integrating software with existing systems
Experience in software testing and quality assurance
Working knowledge of source control systems and configuration management practices
Working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and DoDAF related documentation
Working knowledge of Clinger-Cohen Act compliance
Working knowledge of a range of software development technologies and tools
Working knowledge of MySQL & SQL Server
Working knowledge of Software modeling and simulation
Familiarity with various communications protocols
