This role sits within our Financial & Risk (â€œF&Râ€) business. On January 30, 2018, Thomson Reuters announced that it signed a definitive agreement to enter into a strategic partnership with private equity funds managed by Blackstone related to the companys F&R business. As part of the transaction, Thomson Reuters has agreed to sell a 55% majority stake in Financial & Risk and will retain a 45% interest in the business. Thomson Reuters will maintain full ownership of its Legal, Tax & Accounting and the Reuters News businesses. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the year and is subject to specified regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. When the transaction closes, this role will be included in the new F&R entity.

We are seeking an IBM Mainframe z/OS Solutions Architect to join our North American Wealth Management Solutions Architecture team.
This individual will work with the technology, systems architecture teams and application development teams, to provide architectural guidance, technology recommendations and transition strategies that support the development and implementation of initiatives based on Shared Platform, Services Based Architecture, and Agility, for tactical and strategic projects and initiatives. In addition, this individual will support & drive our technology modernization effort including moving from a legacy mainframe environment to newer technologies and infrastructure capabilities. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide the teams on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and business solutions for the Wealth Management industry.
Ensure compatibility with existing architecture: solutions, infrastructure, services, support, and business requirements
Leverage and align with the assets of the Thomson Reuters enterprise
Build strong and positive relationships with business, technology leaders and design teams to align with the Thomson Reuters strategic technology direction
Define, Maintain & Socialize Mainframe Application Vision, Strategy & Principles
Review, Define, Document, Communicate High Level Application designs
Provide thought leadership and technology drive for the technology modernization initiatives
Work with vendors, conduct POCs/POTs, evaluate and recommend tools/products
Keep abreast of Industry trends, technologies and recommend them to solve business problems
Must be able to handle multiple projects at any given time
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with business stakeholders, management, peers and software developers alike. This person must have the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
Must be able to conceptualize and influence application and interface projects
Practical understanding of the development of scalable, flexible architectures for high-concurrency, high-performance, high-availability, secure applications, in a multi-tenant environment
Practical knowledge and understanding of information security principles and techniques
Demonstrated knowledge of Mainframe design patterns and principles (8 â€“ 10 years)
Demonstrated experience with Mainframe modernization tools & techniques
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, SQL, DB2, MQ, TSO/IDz, (8 â€“ 10 years)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience Data Delivery techniques using Replication, API Enablement, Messaging etc.
Financial Services industry background
Working experience with Scrum, Kanban etc.
Experience developing on OO technologies like Java, C#
Experience with Linux on z/OS
Experience WebSphere Application Server / WebSphere Liberty
Familiarity with Cloud Platforms
TOGAF or ITIL certification is a plus
